The Plot of Ram Jaane: A Brief Summary




The movie begins with a young boy who is abandoned by his parents at a garbage dump. He is taken in by a priest who names him Ram Jaane (Ram knows) after he asks him his name. He grows up with his friends Murli (Vivek Mushran) and Bela (Juhi Chawla) at an orphanage run by Daddu Uncle (Anil Chatterjee). Ram Jaane becomes a street-smart criminal who works for a local gangster, Bhau (Tinnu Anand). Murli becomes a mechanic who dreams of opening his own garage. Bela becomes a social worker who runs a school for the slum children.


One day, Ram Jaane meets Bela again and falls in love with her. However, he is unaware that Murli also loves her. Bela tries to reform Ram Jaane and persuade him to leave his criminal life. She also faces opposition from Bhau, who wants to use the slum land for his illegal activities. Ram Jaane decides to help Bela and protect her from Bhau. He also confronts Murli and tells him to stay away from Bela.


Meanwhile, a new police officer, Inspector Chewte (Puneet Issar), arrives in the city and vows to eliminate the crime and corruption. He targets Ram Jaane and Bhau and arrests them. However, they manage to escape from jail with the help of their lawyer, Sameer Sanwla (Gulshan Grover). Ram Jaane then decides to take revenge on Chewte and Bhau. He also proposes to Bela, but she rejects him and chooses Murli instead.


Ram Jaane is heartbroken and angry. He kidnaps Bela and takes her to his hideout. He also kills Bhau and his men. Murli follows him and tries to rescue Bela. He confronts Ram Jaane and tells him that he is his brother, as they were both adopted by Daddu Uncle. Ram Jaane is shocked and remorseful. He lets go of Bela and asks Murli to kill him. Murli refuses and hugs him. However, Chewte arrives at the scene and shoots Ram Jaane, killing him.


The movie ends with Bela and Murli performing the last rites of Ram Jaane, while his voiceover says that he finally found his identity in death.
